New PS3 Playstation Slim For Sale

UPDATE: Rumors are Reality.  PS3 Now being sold in a number of stores and locations throughout the country and world.

Rumors may be put to rest this month as Sony is expected to make the announcement about the new PS3 Slim at this year's Gamescom press conference in Cologne, France on August 18, 2009. To further validate this information, Japan was set to stop production on the regular 80GB PS3 on August 9, 2009 to get ready for the new PS3 Slim. The new PS3 Slim is expected obviously to be slimmer but other than that no other concrete information is available at this time but there are lots of rumors. More on the rumors later. Amazon's Germany site actually had a Konsole Slim listed but with no price. Whether the new PS3 Slim will have a lower price tag is still unknown at this time. Sony has come down in price on the current PS3 quite considerably since it's inception.

The exact specs on the new machine are not known at this time but it is expected to be able to play all current PS3 games and blu ray movies. It would be nice if it was able to be backwards compatible with PS2 games as this is a wish of many gamers but I would not expect this to be the case. You will most likely still have to find an older version of the PS3 system in order to play your older PS2 games which you can still find on Ebay and Amazon.

RUMORS

Now, as far as the rumors are concerned the new PS3 is said to be available in 120gb and 250gb versions. The blu ray player is also said not to be as good as the one in the current PS3 and the whole unit itself is said to be using cheaper parts so as to deliver the PS3 at a more affordable price. From what I can gather from all this is if you have a PS3 currently and aren't too concerned over its size, keep what you have because the newer version won't offer you anything more and maybe of less quality. But with all this being said, I'm sure people will be lining up to get their hands on the newest Ps3 system. With Christmas right around the corner and possibly a lower price tag, Sony may be in for a very good last quarter of 2009.
